Warning Page

XXX membership sites all have what is known as a "tour". Before you can even get to a site's tour you will often be shown a warning page or a page that explains the terms of service for entry beyond that point. Usually the warning page has a simple "Yes" or "No" link in response to a question of whether you are at least 18 years old and you agree to the sites terms and conditions. Of course a person of any age can click the "Yes" link so the presence of a warning page is more of a formality than an actual way to verify anyone's age.

What to Look For

Once you get past the warning page, you will usually be taken to the first page of the tour. You can think of a tour as a brochure for what awaits those willing to pay a fee to gain access to the members area. Most tours are very well done graphically with glossy photos and eye catching women striking alluring poses. Rather than look at the glossy photos or sample video clips, visitors should pay attention to any text on the tour which describes what it is they should expect if they go ahead and sign up for access to the members area.

You will often see outlandish claims like the "worlds largest" but what you really want to look for is the details if provided. For example, how many photos do they offer access to? Are they high resolution? How often do they update? How many videos do they offer? Is the content exclusive to their site? While the mind is often distracted by the pretty pictures, visually tours are often not representative of what the members area looks like so you will want to try to filter all that eye candy out and look for some facts if provided.

Join Page

Most tours are 2 to 3 pages long, although there is a trend to make them less pages but really long pages that scroll down quite a bit. In any case, they will eventually lead to what is known as the "join page". The join page is where you need to submit your signup and payment details in order to continue further into the members area. Since you will probably be requested to submit your credit card number you will want to make sure the page in secure by looking for the lock icon in your browser and making sure the location starts with https rather than http.

Often join pages will include a field in the form where you select the cost and length of your membership. Before you submit the form, make sure the proper amount and length of time is selected as there is often multiple values and the one you want may not be selected by default. Typical membership costs are between $3.95 to $15.95 for a 3 to 15 day trial or $29.95 or higher for a monthly membership. Also pay close attention to whether the period you select automatically recurs after a period of time or is a one time charge.
